A Call to Young Winnipeg Artists from Syrian Children

Can you draw, paint or sculpt dignity? Can you imagine freedom as a piece of art? Can you see an artistic dimension in the Syrian Revolution? If you can do any of that, the Syrian Assembly of Manitoba is calling on your artistic talent to help us show the world the suffering of Syrians.

Young artists of Winnipeg are invited to express their thoughts and feelings in artwork that will be auctioned off to the community on the 21st of April at the fundraising dinner for Syria. To contribute to the cause, all you need to do is to create an artwork before the 21st of April and bring it with you to the fundraising event at 2445 Waverley St. We only request that your art is relevant to the Syrian strive for dignity and freedom and that you are willing to donate it. There is no age limit and all participants will be recognized for their effort by the Syrian Assembly of Manitoba and Islamic Relief.

To help us organize the auction, please send us your name and a brief description with a photo of your contribution to [email protected] by no later than April 20, 2012.

THE LETTER BELOW IS A NOTE TO THE COMMUNITY FROM THE FUNDRAISER ORGANIZERS:

A Thank you Note to the Community

All praise be to Allah for allowing us to come together on the 21st of April in support of our brothers and sisters in Syria. With His blessing and your efforts, we were able to raise about $35,000 for relief efforts in Syria. Saturday evening was a testimony to the generosity of our community. We demonstrated, to ourselves before anybody else, that we care and are willing to respond when called upon.

The fundraiser event would not have been successful without your financial and physical contributions. Behind the scene were so many volunteers who came forward and offered their services for the sake of God. Their efforts may have gone unnoticed by us, but what matters is that Allah is their witness. For all their dedication and enthusiasm we express our profound gratitude and pray for acceptance of their good deeds.

Thank you Winnipeg and thank you to all of those who attended our Syrian Fundraiser and those who had the intention to be there but could not make it. If you still would like to make a donation, you can write a cheque to Islamic Relief Canada for “Syrian Relief” and hand it to any representative from Syrian Assembly of Manitoba www.Syrians.ca or Islam Alive www.IslamAlive.ca.
