How to Perform Eid Salah at home:

Eid Salah (prayer) consist of two rak’a’s (units of prayer), similar to Jumu’a prayer.  In the first rak’a, before reciting Fatiha, you say “Allah Akbar” 7 times, including the first “Allah Akbar” that starts the prayer. In the second Rak’a, before Fatiha, you say “Allah Akbar” 6 times.

Zakat Al-Fitr/Fitra Reminder

Fitra is $10/person and must be paid before Eid prayers. You can pay it at www.miaonline.org/donate, in person at the MIA office (open 12-3 pm) or by e-transfer to [email protected]

Remember!

Provincial directives limit gatherings to more than 10 people outside of an immediate family that lives together. Please continue to practice physical distancing during Eid! If you visit, do so from the doorstep, and substitute the visits and the gatherings with phone calls and virtual gatherings! Eid Mubarak!

STATEMENT REGARDING COVID-19

Based on government advisories and the strong recommendation of national Muslim organizations such as the Canadian Council of Imams, the Muslim Medical Association of Canada, the Islamic Society of North America and the Fiqh Council of North America – WCM will be suspending all classes and gatherings in the mosque effective immediately. The mosque will also be closed for the five daily prayers and will not be holding jummah prayers, tarawih prayers or tahajjud prayers until further notice.

May Allah (SW) bless you all for your understanding. We realize that it is difficult to see mosque closures happening around the city and across the country. However as Muslims we are obliged to do our part in preventing harm. We know from Ahadith that the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) has advised us to take strict precautions against the spread of disease, including restrictions on gatherings.

May Allah (SW) help us all to weather this storm with patience and kindness. InshaAllah we will all find ways to help one another and build relationships through this trial. Please check on friends and community members who are elderly or isolated. Use this time to nurture family relationships and focus on self-care. Find innovative ways to conserve. Cook meals together. Pray together at home. Have halaqas with friends online. We can translate our mosque community experiences to our homes. Share your ideas with friends. It’s time to be creative! May Allah (SW) protect us all and guide us always towards sincere intention and action. Ameen.
