UNDERSTANDING HOW VIOLENT RADICALS ARE TARGETING OUR YOUTH FOR RECRUITMENT IN CANADA

Learn from experts and explore ways in how we can protect our youth and provide them a venue to address their grievances in a healthy and constructive manner. Muslim experts will draw from Quran and Sunnah to debunk the lies and propaganda being used by the extremists to confuse and brainwash our youth.
Law enforcement will share their expertise in recognizing and identifying harmful websites and social media. This forum will inform and empower parents, youth and the community in how to best prevent infiltration of militant ideology . Conversation café’ will provide an opportunity to all attendees to express their views and discuss the issues.

7:30 - 8:30PM: Challenging extremist messages of violence through the Quran and Sunnah
Based on principles derived from the Quran, and Prophetic tradition, this panel will deal systematically with concepts of Jihad, martyrdom, citizenship, and relations with people of other faiths or no faith. The panel will also explore the repercussions of terrorism, as well as its path from social and political corruption.

8:45 to 9:45pm: (RCMP) A panel of law enforcement experts will walk participants through a sampling of problematic websites and social media that pose a threat to the healthy development of our youth. Panelists will also inform parents on the types of recruiting messaging used by terrorists and how parents can help their children to process this messaging. The panel will highlight the signs to look for to determine if the youth are keeping negative company.
